Description:
Chopin and Mompou, two "poets of the piano" with the "devilish touch" of the unique pianist, Daudet! Chopin and Mompou were separated by about a century, but both were "poets of the piano," composers who truly expressed the soul of the piano and were deeply connected to their instruments. Célimène Daudet's album focuses on the relationship and similarities between these two composers. Both composers had a fascination with melody, but they also knew how to make the piano sing. Montpauw's three preludes are followed by the beautiful "Bridge of Montjuïc," which was unpublished during his lifetime, and is very welcome. Chopin's Piano Sonata No. 3 also sounds like a work by Montpauw. The second half of the concert features two pieces in which the two have hybridized beyond similarity. The 15th piece, "Secret Music," is based on a prelude in E minor, and the "Variations on a Theme by Chopin," based on a prelude in A major (a commercial song for a certain stomach medicine), unites the two. And finally, they really start singing with the exquisite "All the Flowers on You". Célimène Daudet is a pianist born in Aix-en-Provence in 1977. Of Haitian descent, he is noted for his unique French sophistication and tropical heat, and for the beauty and sensitivity of his devilish touch. King International
