Troebel’s Masterful Performance, Brimming with the Charm of German Lieder Sarah Troebel is a German soprano who is the grandniece of Helen Troebel—known as the “Diva of the Metropolitan”—and the great conductor Günter Wand. Accompanied by Helmut Deutsch, she allows listeners to fully savor the charm of German art songs. The four great composers featured here are all masters of melody; while none of them—with the exception of Richard Strauss—were German, all of their works are set to German poetry. It is also interesting to note that among the Liszt works, “Lorelei” and “Thou Who Art in Heaven” are from *Das Liederbuch*, while “O, Love as Much as You Can” is the original version of the famous “Liebestraum No. 3.” King International
