Description:

Sorry for the wait. Rousset's latest harpsichord disc is now available. Armand-Louis Coupland's "Klavsin Collection" in its entirety! Rousset has been highly acclaimed for his conducting activities in recent years, but many people still want to hear him play the harpsichord, and the long-awaited latest release is now available. This is Rousset's first CD release of a two-disc set of works by Armand-Louis Coupland. Armand-Louis Coupland (1727-1789) came from the Coupland family and was a cousin of François Coupland. He was a contemporary of C.P.E. Bach and other composers, and was one of the last great composers to replace the piano in the harpsichord tradition. He did not write religious works or operas, but devoted himself to harpsichord and organ music, and was criticized as an anachronism because he continued the style of François Couperin, whom he admired. However, improvements in musical instruments have expanded his range, and his evolution from the great Coupland is clearly perceptible. This disc contains all 25 of his masterpieces from 1751. In addition to classical dances such as armandos, gavottes, and minuets, there are also interesting pieces such as "The Four Nations," which depicts Italians, Englishmen, Germans, and Frenchmen. When heard in Rousset's performance, each of these works seems to be a great masterpiece. Rousset recorded these works on a national treasure, the Jean-Claude Goujon/Joachim Schwanen (1749/1784) instrument in the collection of the Musée de la Musique in Paris. The delicate and gallant sound, Rousset's unique fingerings, and refined expression make for an exquisite experience. King International
