World premiere recording of the first opera about "Bluebeard"! This world premiere recording is a joint project of the Norwegian Baroque Music Festival and the Baroque Music Center of Versailles. The first opera comic opera "Bluebeard Raoul" by Grétry was premiered in March 1789, just before the French Revolution, and was forgotten in the turmoil that followed. The composer, Grétry, was born in Belgium and active in France, where he wrote about 50 operas in all. After moving to Paris, he made a name for himself as a composer of comic operas. This "Bluebeard Raoul" is based on Charles Perrault's fairy tale "Bluebeard," but Michel-Jean Sudaine, who wrote the libretto, combined the story with other popular stories (romances) of the time to create a pure comedy. Interwoven with comical scenes, the story depicts the cruel nobleman Bluebeard Raoul from a political point of view. King International
