Liornel Ruecke has become one of the leading guitarists of our time, having gained attention as a band member for musicians such as Herbie Hancock, Esperanza Spalding, and Carlos Santana. While his four Blue Note releases to date, including the 2015 studio live release "Gaia," set new trends in the contemporary scene, this is a very personal project for Liornel. Born in the Republic of Benin, West Africa, the fifteen films look at the history of his homeland, including the harsh conditions of slavery and colonial rule, forced emigration to North America, Brazil, and other parts of Latin America, and his return to Africa. The performance deepens the listener's understanding of the tragedy and harshness of the situation, and at the same time pays respect and homage to the culture that emerged from the history of the region, while also interweaving songs that offer hope because of the difficulties experienced. Produced by Robert Sadin, a contemporary musical genius who has produced and arranged Herbie Hancock's Grammy-winning "Gershwin's World," and whose work spans genres from classical/classical music to numerous jazz pieces and pop music featuring Sting. Robert Sadin is a prodigy of the contemporary music world.In addition to Massimo Biolcati and Ferenc Nemeth, who have worked together for more than 20 years, Sadin's connections have led to the participation of the brilliant Siro Batista on six songs, as well as Pino Paradino, John Ellis, Mark Feldman, and many other up-and-coming musicians. The message resonates because it is quietly told like an epic poem spun by a bard. The artists' thoughts and feelings seep through.
