Yakubu, a drummer who has toured with Seun Kuti and Egypt 80, demonstrates a deep understanding of this Afrobeat classic while offering a completely unique interpretation. This killer version features a lavish four-piece horn section that evokes a wild, primal energy, while the powerful cumbia rhythm builds to a frenzied intensity! It’s arguably one of the finest Fela Kuti covers ever recorded. And actually, Side B is amazing too. Inspired by the legendary “Zaire ’74” festival, “Zaire” is a heavy Afro-funk track with deep bass reminiscent of Manu Dibango. This is the kind of record every DJ should buy at least two copies of!
