Description:
Volume 2 of the "Nyeres Live" series, releasing rare recordings by legendary Hungarian pianist Ervin Nyeres (1903-1987) in high-quality remastered form. This volume compiles a 1973 live recording and a 1984 private recording, considered the last of his career. CD1 captures his May 1973 recital at the Forest Hill Clubhouse. Using archive master tapes as the source, it presents the world premiere of that day's performance, including Liszt's Gondola of Sorrow (Second Version). CD2 contains the "final recording" that survives today, recorded in 1984 during his final years at the home of his close friend Ricardo Hernandez. This was restored from the original tapes provided directly by Mr. Hernandez. The booklet includes liner notes by Kevin Bazana, author of the Nylénháji biography "The Lost Genius," and producer notes by label producer Tomoyuki Sawatari, presented in both Japanese and English. Additionally, a 24-page photobook is included, featuring dozens of previously unpublished photographs taken by Yoshimasa Hatano during Nylénháji's 1982 visit to Japan, alongside various quotes from Nylénháji himself. Ervin Nyeres (1903-1987), a Hungarian pianist, was hailed as a child prodigy yet withdrew from the public eye, becoming a long-lost figure. Rediscovered in the 1970s, he visited Japan in his later years. This connection led to his personal effects and recording tapes being donated to Takasaki College of Arts (TACC). With the closure of the college in 2013, the archive faced potential dispersion. However, in 2016, Sonetto Classics formally acquired all materials. Currently, based on these valuable master tapes and audio sources provided by associates, a formal live series is being progressively reissued. ※Please note that some recordings may contain noise or gaps inherent to the original masters.
