A rich collection of works by a music master who enjoyed the glory of the Habsburgs This collection of harpsichord works by Gottlieb Muffat (1690-1770) follows the release of his harpsichord collection "Componimento Musicali" in 2024. Muffat was active in Vienna as a composer at the court of the Habsburgs in the late Baroque period. He is best known as the music director of Empress Maria Theresa. The date of composition is estimated to be before 1739.Muffat's teacher of 30 years, Fuchs (1660-1741), also influenced Bach with his Italian-influenced counterpoint treatise "Gradus ad Parnassum," and the influences of Italian fugues and dances, French fantasies and dances, and English dances Muffat and Bach may be common elements. Incidentally, the word "partita" in the title of the piece was originally used in Italy to indicate a variation, and this was also the case in Austria and German regions until the early Baroque period, but the interpretation of the word gradually changed to mean "suite. As in the previous concert, Italian veteran Roberto Loreggian painstakingly depicts the character of each piece in a seamless performance. The instruments used were modeled after those made by J. Couchet, a member of the Luccas family in the southern Netherland, and manufactured in Utrecht in 1992 by Willem Kloosbergen of the Netherlands. Recorded at the Convent of Santa Maria della Carceri in Padua, Veneto, northern Italy, February 3-6, 2025. The three CDs have a total recording time of approximately 167 minutes. The case is made of 24mm-thick polystyrene (multi-case). The accompanying booklet (12 pages, English) includes commentary by musicologist and violinist Miriam Guglielmo.Made in the EU, the discs are manufactured by Optimal Media of Germany, a well-known major label.
