Published works by female musicians active in London during the late Baroque period At a time when even Bach had to call his works "exercises" to be published, Purcell, Arn, Gambarini, and others published their works as "lessons" in England as well. The advantage was that the wealthy people who could afford expensive sheet music could also afford expensive lessons, and even if they (they) could not play the piece properly in the end, it was unlikely to be a problem, so the composer could compose freely. Elizabeth Turner, the composer of this album, chose the same method, but unfortunately she died shortly after publication. The booklet (8 pages, in English) includes a commentary by musicologist Maddalena Bonecki and messages from the performers.
