Bach's Orchestral Suites and Chaconne for Solo Violin "Chaconne" was written for solo violin, and it is said that Bach himself played it on clavichord. What is noteworthy about this recording is that Orchestral Suites Nos. 2 and 3 are performed entirely on the organ. The orchestral suite consists of a French overture and dances, and since Bach himself did not use the term "suite" but simply named it "overture," it is clear that the overture is the main part of the work. In publishing the new Bach complete works, we respect Bach's naming by writing "Overture (Orchestral Suite)," but also consider the name "Orchestral Suite," which became popular worldwide due to the spread of the old Bach complete works, by writing it in parentheses. Since the composition is essentially a small chamber ensemble, it is suitable for arrangement for organ, and since Bach himself arranged various works for organ, Lüpzum's attempt seems to be significant enough.The booklet includes an essay introducing Lüpzam's imaginative approach, as well as a detailed description in English of the "Church of St. Louis, King of France" and "Casavant Organ" used for the recording.
