This is a collection of works by Richard Jones, who was active in London at the same time as Handel. It is no exaggeration to say that London in the first half of the 18th century was overwhelmed by the presence of Handel, and the existence of other outstanding musicians was not readily apparent. Jones was one of these unfortunate composers, and few documents remain. It seems that he was active as a violinist, but it is very difficult to find his footprints as a composer. Fortunately, this suite, which has survived, can be said to be as varied as the music of Handel or Purcell. It differs from the traditional order of the suite in that it is rich in harmony, bold in conception, impressive in its vigorous rhythms, and quite challenging in its technical aspects. This is one piece where one cannot help but feel the joy of knowing Richard Jones, who has established his music with intellectual freedom, eccentricity, and independence. Performed by Francesco Fornasaro, who won first prize in the concerto category of the Wanda Landowska International Harpsichord Competition. As a testament to his diligent study of Jones, the extensive booklet is also worth mentioning.This is the debut album to Brilliant Classics.
