Description:

Vast, atmospheric, and enveloping electronic minimalism—Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter has completed his latest solo work, *MIRAGE*! *Mirage* is the fourth collaborative performance art piece by world-renowned choreographer and dancer Damien Jalet and contemporary sculptor Kohei Nawa. The score composed by Thomas Bangalter specifically for this grand, ritualistic stage production featuring 16 dancers is now available as a 180-gram heavyweight vinyl LP! Vast, atmospheric, and enveloping electronic minimalism—Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter presents his latest solo work, *Mirage*. This album features a score composed by Daft Punk co-founder Thomas Bangalter for the performance art piece “Mirage,” the fourth collaboration between Belgian-French choreographer and dancer Damien Jalet and sculptor Kohei Nawa. Commissioned by the prestigious Grand Théâtre de Genève, the piece was written for a grand, ritualistic stage production featuring 16 dancers, conceived by world-renowned choreographer Damien Jalet and contemporary sculptor Kohei Nawa. *Mirage* had its world premiere in the fall of 2024 at THEATER010 in Fukuoka, and subsequently, an upgraded theatrical version titled *Mirage* was performed in Switzerland, Germany, Spain, and other countries, receiving extremely high acclaim internationally. "Mirage" is a work that pursues a vast and immersive form of "electronic minimalism." The sound, which envelops the stage’s shifting states, is radical yet possesses an accessibility that sharpens the listener’s senses. Thomas Bangalter adopts an approach akin to “sculpting sound,” following in the footsteps of contemporary music master Iannis Xenakis. Even after Daft Punk’s disbandment, he continues to carve out his own artistic path by viewing experimentation as a “form of performance” and enjoying collaborations across genres. While his previous orchestral work, *MYTHOLOGIES*, has also received high acclaim, Thomas Bangalter maintains that momentum as he continues to leave his mark on the contemporary dance and art worlds. Furthermore, he recently made a surprise appearance in London for a B2B set with “Fredagain..”; the video of that performance surpassed 2 million views in just one week, demonstrating his overwhelming presence in both the digital realm and the club scene.
