David Bowie, a legend who was always at the forefront of his time and continued to blaze new trails. *THESHELTALMYRECORDINGS*, a compilation of rare tracks—including numerous previously unreleased recordings made in 1965 with legendary producer Shel Talmy just before he began his career as David Bowie—is now available on 180-gram heavyweight vinyl. This collection—which nearly exhaustively covers the recordings he made with Shel Talmy, a leading producer of the 1960s who worked with The Who and The Kinks, during the period when he was still known as “Davie Jones”—captures the artist on the eve of becoming “David Bowie.” It will be released in two formats: a soft-pack CD and a 180-gram heavyweight vinyl LP. The collection features a total of 22 tracks, including previously unreleased material and rare demos (the vinyl edition features 12 carefully selected tracks). The historical significance of this collection is further enhanced by the participation of Jimmy Page—who would later go on to star with the Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin—and the renowned pianist Nicky Hopkins. The accompanying booklet features detailed liner notes by music historian Alec Palau. Bowie and Talmy first met on Denmark Street in London, which was the center of the British music scene at the time. At that time, Talmy had already achieved great success producing The Who and The Kinks, and had just begun working independently to discover and nurture new talent. “I knew he would definitely succeed.
