With each new release, they refined a style dedicated to pursuing their own aesthetic, rising to become charismatic icons of the 1980s British music scene. They continue to tour today, evolving their music and captivating rock fans around the world. Now, two of their legendary compilation albums—*THE BEST OF NEW ORDER*, a collection of their singles released in 1994, and *THE REST OF NEW ORDER*, a remix collection released the following year in 1995 that serves as its companion disc— have been brought together as a single release titled *THE BEST OF AND THE REST OF NEW ORDER*! This release includes a deluxe 4-CD set featuring the two albums plus two bonus discs containing previously unreleased tracks and material making its CD debut, a 2-CD set combining *THE BEST OF* and *THE REST OF*, and a 4-format set comprising a 2-LP vinyl edition of *THE BEST OF* and a 3-LP vinyl edition of *THE REST OF*. All formats feature audio remastered in 2025. Released in 1994, *THE BEST OF NEW ORDER* is the definitive collection of singles released by the band since 1985. In addition to 7-inch mixes of the singles, it includes “True Faith” and “Bizarre Love Triangle”—which were produced specifically for this album at the time— four tracks from the 1994 mixes of “1963” and “Round & Round,” as well as numerous iconic tracks such as “Blue Monday ’88,” “Regret,” and “World in Motion.” In 1995, the remix album *THE REST OF NEW ORDER*, which reimagined the band’s catalog, was released. It features remixes by various artists such as Shep Pettibone, Armand Van Helden, and Howie B, but among them, the German electronic duo Hardfloor’s “Blue Monday ’95 (Hardfloor Remix)” generated a huge buzz at the time. Both albums were huge commercial successes, reaching the UK Top 5 and further cementing the band’s status as one of the most innovative and influential artists of the modern era.
