YOUN SUN NAH is a jazz singer born in Korea and currently based in France.She has released numerous works on the ACT JAZZ label since 1994, has performed at the closing ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, where she performed the Korean folk song "Arirang", and was awarded the Order of Arts and Culture by the French Ministry of Culture in 2019. In 2024, she released a new jazz vocal standard, "ELLES," a collection of fine, jazzy vocals and delicate piano covers of songs by female artists she has loved and been inspired by, and her latest studio album, "LOST PIECES," is an enchanting journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance that explores themes of love, people, and self-doubt while touching on stories of loss, separation, and complex human relationships. The unforgettably beautiful title track, "Lost Pieces," was originally intended to be recorded with a very simple instrumentation, reminiscent of Steve Reich's minimalist approach. The result is the most elaborately arranged piece of music, with brass, marimba, strings, and other instruments creating a space in perfect balance with each other, and the most lovely voice Yoon Sang Na has ever sung. Her style, which will be awarded the Order of Arts and Culture by the French Ministry of Culture in 2019 for her outstanding artistry, is extremely diverse, ranging from delicate to expressive singing.In this latest release, "Lost Pieces," her vocal style is more expressive than ever, as the overall theme of the album calls for a variety of approaches. In "Shell of Me," the opening track of the album, she sings calmly at first with an industrial-style guitar tone, but the colors change as the song progresses. The next track, "Where'd You Hide?", is a simple song with no playfulness or embellishment, but expresses a style that is both simple and intense.
