This album followed their previous album "PARKLIFE" released in 1994, which was their worldwide breakthrough, and produced hit singles such as "Country House", "The Universal", "Stereotypes", and "Charmless Man", The album was also highly acclaimed.The album debuted at #1 on the UK Albums Chart and was soon certified triple platinum in the UK, and the four singles released have not only sold over 1.8 million copies in the UK, but have also been streamed over 335 million times worldwide to date. To date, the album has been streamed more than 335 million times around the world. To mark the 30th anniversary of the release of the hit album, THE GREAT ESCAPE is being reissued on 2LP color vinyl with new artwork. The "thin artwork," a bold expansion of the original album's world, was created by artist/designer Tony Hung, who also created the artwork for THE MAGIC WHIP, etc. Inside the gatefold jackets are yellow and turquoise blue analogs. The yellow and turquoise blue analogs are housed inside the gatefold jacket, creating a vivid contrast.
