His new releases continue to captivate fans around the world with their deep musicality and creative style. Now he releases an album of fresh interpretations and awe-inspiring re-imaginings of songs he has loved and listened to all his life. This latest album, "FIND EL DORADO," is his 18th solo album in total. More than just a covers album, it is a map of his emotional and musical DNA.From the quiet melancholy of Ray Davies' "Nobody's Fool" to the searing pain of "El Dorado," the music here is all about the music that made him who he is. Weller has taken thousands of songs from many different genres into his inner being. The records he listened to obsessively helped him to develop his own songwriting. FIND EL DORADO was recorded at Weller's Black Barn and Kundalini Studios. The album was arranged and produced by Steve Craddock of Ocean Color Scene, who has become a familiar face on Weller's work. He also engineered and mixed the album with Charles Rees. The first single from the album is "Lawdy Rolla.The original version of this song was by the obscure French group The Guerrillas, and was one that featured Manu Dibango, the Cameroonian jazz saxophonist who introduced African music to the world. Also released at the same time was "Pinball," perhaps one of the most familiar songs on the album, a diary-like piece about the events of one weekend in 1973, released in 1974 by British actor/musician Brian Protheroe. Weller's version features wistful vocals that seem to capture the atmosphere of the time, and the beautiful saxophone of Jacko Peake, who also played on the previous album, "66." (1/2)
