Pene Pati & Il Pomo D'Oro

Description:

Internationally acclaimed tenor Pene Patti, who has released two albums to date, takes on the Neapolitan song tradition with his brilliant voice in a new arrangement by Pagliotti. Co-performed by the prestigious ensemble Il Pomo d'Oro! The "Serenata a Napoli" will bring together masterpieces by Capua, Tosti, Denza, and others, as well as some unknown works. It also includes beloved classics such as "O sole mio" and "Soldier in love". Pene Patti's voice is a luminous lyric tenor with a bright, clear tone. She naturally brings out the lyricism and melancholy of Neapolitan songs without excessive exaggeration. Neapolitan songs are an emotionally rich genre, but Pene Patti sings them without being overly dramatic and with an emphasis on subtle nuances. In "O sole mio," for example, she sings with a hint of melancholy amidst the cheerfulness, and in "Soldier in Love," she strikes a perfect balance between earnestness and tenderness. Although of Samoan New Zealand descent, his Italian and Neapolitan pronunciation is very smooth, and he does not interrupt the musical flow, but enhances the musicality of the words. Rhythm and verbal intonation blend naturally. In contrast to Antonello Pagliotti's modern and sensitive arrangement, Pene Patti's singing is not overly heavy, but light yet emotionally rich. The balance with the ensemble "Il Pomo d'Oro" is very good, and the voices sound as if they blend in as part of the instruments. The singing has a warm and pleasant resonance, just like the night breezes and sunshine of the Mediterranean. It is the ideal embodiment of the coexistence of melancholy and cheerfulness that is the charm of Neapolitan music. In this album, the music is performed in a new arrangement by Antonio Pagliotti. Pagliotti, born in Naples in 1963, is a composer, arranger, guitarist, and conductor. He studied guitar at the Naples Conservatory and began working as a composer and conductor with the Neapolitan musician Roberto De Simone in 1986. His works are characterized by a fusion of traditional and contemporary Neapolitan music and are performed in a wide variety of fields, including theater, film, television, and concerts. He is one of the most important musicians who continue to introduce Neapolitan musical culture to the world, and is known for his works incorporating Neapolitan folk songs and tarantella rhythms, for which he has received international acclaim. Here, he keeps the tradition alive and fresh, giving Neapolitan songs an intimate and innovative sound and rediscovering the charm of Neapolitan music through new interpretations. Warner Music Japan
