Contents] (Scheduled to be included in the CD) Chopin: Exercises Op.10 & 25 Performer Maurizio Pollini (Piano) Recording 5-7, 9 & 11-16.IX.1960, No. 1 Studio, Abbey Road, London Remastered 192kHz/24-Bit from original tapes by Circe Studio, 2025 In 1960, a few months after winning the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Maurizio Pollini signed an exclusive contract with EMI to record two albums dedicated to the Polish composer: the first, Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 with Krecki, was well received upon its release. The second, a collection of exercises, faced an uncertain fate. Pollini withdrew his approval at the post-production stage and gave no reason. The recording seemed unlikely to see the light of day for decades, but in 2011, with Pollini's approval, it was released on Testament.This new edition released by Warner, which took over from the former EMI, was remastered at Circ? Studio in Paris, famous for mastering SACD and spatial audio, at 192 kHz/24-bit from the original master tape. The sound is so different from the Testamento disc that you can hear the dynamic touch and even the reverberations of the strings, as if it were a new recording. Not only does it highlight Pollini's outstanding technical skills, but it also conveys the emotional sensitivity of an 18-year-old pianist. Limited release as an analog LP, 180g 180g with 2 discs (4 sides) in order to have a generous cutting space. (Warner Music)
