NewDad is a four-piece indie rock band from Galway, Ireland. Their most attractive point is their dark and melodious guitar sound, which is influenced by Pixies, The Cure, Slowdive, and shoegaze bands of the 90's, and the lyrical world of frontman Julie's sensitive feelings. After captivating indie rock lovers around the world with their debut album "MADRA" produced by Alan Moulder and released last year, the band will release a 10" analog featuring new songs before the festival season. Their new EP, SAFE, is exactly what fans have been waiting for, and NewDad has taken their core shoegaze/dream pop sound to a new level of confidence with expertly controlled hooks and elements reminiscent of Pavement and Sonic Youth. Their core shoegaze/dream pop sound has been elevated to a new level with renewed confidence. Their signature ethereal sound is now more engaging than ever, their emotional outpourings are more subtle and dynamic, and the songs on this EP are far more sophisticated than those on "Madra. The first single from the EP, "Entertainer" is a reflection of their growth. Vocalist/guitarist Julie Dawson's voice sounds like she is talking to an imaginary friend, and the ennui she creates with the distorted guitar, the gorgeous yet disturbing synth sounds that overlap with it, and the drums that grow in intensity from slow to fast, leave an indelible impression on the listener.
