Revived in the latest remastering in 2024, Celibidacke was one of the most important and original interpreters of Bruckner's music in recent years, as intended by Celibidacke. A perfectionist, he preferred the immediacy of the concert and the live experience with the audience, and disliked synthetic sounds generated in recording studios, and his performances during his tenure as Music Director of the Munich Philharmonic from 1979 to 1996 were strongly influenced by Buddhism and perfectly balanced in sound and space. The outstanding "Celibidacke Edition" released on the old EMI label is a treasure trove of unique masterpieces that make us rethink the possibilities of works with subtle beauty of sound and bold deformations that are not usually considered in orchestral performances, and that are not usually performed with Bruckner, Brahms, or Beethoven, The performances of Beethoven have received a wide range of compliments. Among them, the Bruckner performance recorded here is a masterpiece from the last years of Celibidacke's life, in which he created an overwhelming amount of information with a relaxed sense of time and a highly precise orchestral expression that was the result of thorough rehearsals.For this release, the original masters were remastered by one of the most renowned mastering engineers in Japan, Mr. Kosei Fujita. Mr. Kosei Fujita has been remastering the "Definition Series" of Tower Records exclusive products, and is a mastering engineer with an established reputation. It is thought that the digital recordings made before 2000 (16bit/44.1kHz) did not have enough density and information (or were lost during the analog/digital conversion), and therefore could not be demonstrated on today's high-resolution audio sets. The overtone (high-resolution) range that was not recorded is restored by special processor processing using the latest technology to maximize the wide frequency bandwidth and dynamic range, thereby creating a sense of realism in localization and dynamics. The original rich tone, smoothness, and reverberation of the music in the hall are maintained, and the virtuosic performance with the perfect balance of instrument placement and volume that Celibidacke intended is revealed here for the first time.Not only the SACD layer, but also the CD layer, has been mastered with the utmost care to ensure that the sound from the remastered DSD source is demonstrated to its fullest potential.
