Ausgeir released their debut Icelandic-language album "Deels i Døyðasogn" in 2012! It was the fastest-selling album in Icelandic history and won a total of four Icelandic Grammy Awards, including two major categories ("Best Album" and "Best New Artist") at the Icelandic Music Awards! Described as "the miraculous voice born in Iceland," their English debut album "In the Silence" released in January 2002 was a huge hit here in Japan, and they have visited Japan four times, including Fuji Rock and solo tours. Ausgele, who is also scheduled to perform at Fuji Rock for the second time in July, released his debut album "Deals y doza sogun," sung in his native language, in 2012. Ausgeir did not originally intend to become a musician, and at one point in his career he turned his attention to athletics. Music was just a hobby. However, things took a sudden turn in 2012 when a major Icelandic producer named Gudmundur Kristin Jönsson, a.k.a. Kiddi, listened to his demo recordings.The band fell in love with Ausgeir's talent and immediately began recording with Kiddy, which resulted in the completion of "Deels i Døyðasogunn". This album was the fastest-selling debut album in Icelandic history and won four Grammy Awards, including two major categories ("Best Album" and "Best New Artist") at the Icelandic Grammy Awards and the Icelandic Music Awards. Ausgeir is now owned by one in ten people in Iceland, making him the country's leading superstar.
