A 4-CD box set covering Peter Hammill’s solo career in the 1990s—as the frontman of Van der Graaf Generator—is now available. It features the four solo albums *Fireships*, *The Noise*, *Roaring Forties*, and *X My Heart*, originally released between 1992 and 1996 on his own label, Fie! Records, now remastered under Hammill’s supervision. In 1992, Peter Hammill founded his own label, "Fie!", to handle his solo work, and began his solo career with *Fireships*, which was released that same year to critical acclaim. This more introspective album was described in the original liner notes as “the first in the BeCalm series” and received widespread critical acclaim for tracks such as “I Will Find You,” “Curtains,” and “Gaia.” Furthermore, in 1993, he released the more rock-oriented album *The Noise* (which was considered “the first in the ALoud series” at the time). In 1995, he released another outstanding album, *Roaring Forties*, which included the extended track “A Headlong Stretch.” The album *X My Heart*, released in March 1996, was also a superb work, featuring tracks such as “Amnesiac” and “A Better Time.” This collection includes newly remastered versions of these four albums, along with an illustrated booklet featuring previously unpublished photographs and liner notes by Peter Hammill.
