There were bands that were inspired by elements of glam rock and promoted it in their own way, early pub rock bands that sounded like tough R&B from the pub rock circuit, bands that abandoned the self-absorption of early 70s progressive rock and embraced a more ear-friendly sound, and on the other hand, bands that had a cult following.
