The Dream Academy is a British acoustic pop unit consisting of Nick Laird Clowes (vo, g), Gilbert Gabriel (key), and Kate St. John (vo). The Dream Academy was co-produced by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd and is best known for their 1985 U.S. Top 10 hit "Life in a Northern Town," which was used as a commercial song in Japan. The boxed set includes all of their music from 1985 to 1991. Their atmospheric music, created in the heyday of stadium rock with an unusual instrumentation of oboe, cor anglais (English horn), string synthesizer, and acoustic guitar, has won them many enthusiastic fans through their three albums released on the Warner/Reprise label at the time.
