Description:
It Bites earned high acclaim for their progressive rock sound, characterized by a unique pop sensibility and sophisticated technique. They made their debut in 1986 with the album *The Big Lad in the Windmill*.
Their musical style—which fused a pop sensibility with the structural complexity of progressive rock—and the four members’ handsome looks instantly drew attention, and their second single, “Calling All the Heroes,” became a smash hit, peaking at No. 6 on the UK Singles Chart. The band steadily gained a following through their active live performances. They began production on their second album with former Gong member Steve Hillage as producer, completing the album *Once Around the World* in 1987. To unveil the album, they held a public live concert on September 17 of the following year at a studio in Teddington, a suburb of London. The performance was recorded for promotional purposes and broadcast on television and radio in January 1988, just before the album’s release.
This album is a live recording based on that broadcast, with a set list consisting of four tracks from the new album and three from their debut album.
At this point, the band—which delivered highly polished songs with superb technical skill—projected a presence that was truly unrivaled in the British rock scene of the time. As a bonus track, a live performance of the epic “Once Around the World” from their concert in London on May 13 of the following year has been included.
