After stints with King Crimson and UK, Bill Bruford formed a band bearing his own name—Bruford—which stood apart even within the progressive rock and jazz-rock movements of the 1970s. Feeling out of place with UK’s music, Bill Bruford brought in Alan Holdsworth—who had left the band for similar reasons—as the lead player. He then formed <Bruford> with four other musicians: Dave Stewart, the keyboardist from The Egg and Hatfield & the North who had appeared on Bruford’s first solo album *Feels Good To Me* (released before UK was formed), Dave Stewart—who had appeared on his first solo album *Feels Good To Me* before UK was formed—and up-and-coming bassist Jeff Berlin, a technical musician gaining attention in the jazz scene. Together, they formed *Blueford* and released their debut album, *One Of A Kind*, in 1979.
The band then embarked on a 70-show tour spanning Europe and North America. During this tour, their May 8 performance in London took place at a live music venue operated by Virgin Records, and the show was recorded and broadcast as part of a cable radio program.
This album is a live recording based on that broadcast and captures the entire concert, including the encore.
It consists of tracks from Bill Bruford’s first solo album, *Feels Good to Me*, and Blueford’s debut album, *One of a Kind*, and also features “Joe Frazier,” which showcases Jeff Berlin’s ultra-technical bass solo—a track set to appear on the new album. The live performance, in which four highly skilled musicians weave together superbly structured songs, is simply breathtaking! Since no live album featuring Alan Holdsworth has ever been released before, the arrival of this live album is sure to leave fans in awe and moved to tears!
