Having surpassed their 55th anniversary, Yes continues to reign as one of the top bands in the progressive rock scene, despite having weathered numerous twists and turns—including breakups, reunions, hiatuses, and lineup changes. A CD featuring rare live recordings from the band’s 1990s—taken from programs recorded and broadcast for television and radio—is now being released!
After releasing the 1994 album *Talk* and completing their tour, the band underwent its customary lineup change and began performing with the five-member lineup from their golden era. Then, in 1997, they released the first part of the two-part album *Keys to Ascension*, which consisted of both live and studio recordings.
Although a world tour was planned after a long hiatus, Rick Wakeman left the band to prioritize his solo career, and the band went on hiatus. They recruited Billy Sherwood of World Trade and Russian-born Igor Koloshev as new members and completed the album *Open Your Eyes*. They then embarked on the *Open Your Eyes Tour*, a world tour comprising 107 shows. During this tour, the concert held in Hungary on March 31 of that year was recorded and broadcast as a special program on European television and radio. This album is a live recording based on that broadcast, featuring a complete recording of the concert, including solo performances and two encores.
The setlist, centered on tracks from their new album at the time and featuring their classic hits, sent the audience into a frenzy. New member Igor Koloshev’s keyboard playing was every bit as impressive as Rick Wakeman’s. Yes had resumed their steady band activities.
