Michael Jackson, known as the “King of Pop.” He sold over 400 million records worldwide, won 13 Grammy Awards, and was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as “the most successful entertainment artist in human history.” However, despite announcing the “This Is It Tour” in 2009, he passed away suddenly in June of that same year, leaving fans around the world in mourning. Now, a precious live archive of Michael Jackson’s performances is available on CD!
His 1995 album *HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I*—his first release in four years—is a compilation consisting of both a greatest hits collection and his original album. To coincide with the album’s release, he embarked on a tour that began with a concert in Prague, Czech Republic, on September 7, 1996, and concluded with a concert in South Africa on August 15, 1997, comprising 82 performances across 58 cities in 35 countries. During this tour, the concert held on August 16, 1997, in Gothenburg, Sweden, was broadcast as a special program across the Scandinavian countries. This album is a live recording based on the audio used for that broadcast, featuring a complete recording of the concert—comprising five parts, including medleys and encores. This marks the release of a rare live archive from what was Michael Jackson’s final world tour—a tour for which no official live recording previously existed!
