Description:

Genesis, a band that achieved massive sales in the progressive rock scene, has been on hiatus since their 2007 due to the aftereffects of Phil Collins’ illness. However, following their September 15, 2021, concert in Dublin, they embarked on the <"The Last Domino?" Tour>, limited to Ireland and the UK, but it was announced that this tour would mark the end of their activities. Now, a CD release features rare live archives of Genesis from programs recorded and broadcast for television and radio during Peter Gabriel’s tenure with the band! Since their album debut on Decca Records, Genesis has appeared on numerous BBC television and radio programs, performing studio live sets. This compilation album is composed of archival recordings that were broadcast between 1970 and 1972 but have never before been released on CD. Tracks 1 and 2 feature a live performance recorded on February 22, 1970, at the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios. These tracks are from *Trespass* (originally titled *Trespass*), released in 1970 after the band moved to Charisma Records, and feature guitarist Anthony Phillips and drummer John Mayhew. Track 3 features a performance of "The Musical Box," the opening track from the 1971 album *Nursery Cryme*, recorded at the BBC’s Kensington House Studios to promote the album. From this point on, Steve Hackett took over on guitar and Phil Collins on drums. Since the album *Nursery Cryme* had reached No. 39 on the UK Albums Chart, the band appeared on BBC television for a promotional segment, performing four songs from the album—Tracks 4 through 7—at Kensington House Studios. Riding this momentum, the band released the album *Foxtrot* in October 1972. As part of the pre-release promotion, they appeared on BBC television in September of that year, performing tracks 8 and 9 from the album at Kensington House Studios. This proved successful, and the album reached No. 12 on the UK Albums Chart. Following the television broadcast, the recordings were also aired on BBC Radio, and this album features the recordings used during that broadcast.
