Formed by three musicians with diverse musical backgrounds, The Police is a super rock trio that took the world by storm. All five albums released during their brief eight-year career became bestsellers, with their fifth album, *Synchronicity* (released in 1983), achieving mega-sales by spending 17 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the U.S. album charts. A rare live album by The Police—who never released a single live album during their active years—is now available!
Their second album, *Reggatta de Blanc*, released in October 1979—the year The Police gained worldwide popularity—reached No. 25 on the US album charts and went platinum. Of course, in their home country of the UK, it topped the UK album charts. Ahead of the album’s release, they embarked on a massive world tour spanning 224 shows (!), kicking off with a London concert on February 9 of that year and concluding in Germany on April 19, 1980. Among these, the concert held on February 15, 1980, at Nakano Sunplaza in Tokyo was recorded and broadcast for a radio program; this footage was later aired worldwide for promotional purposes. This album is a live recording based on that performance. While the setlist for that day consisted of 18 songs, one track was omitted due to broadcast time constraints.
Although it was only their third year since their official debut, the band—formed by three highly skilled musicians—delivered a performance of astonishing polish. This is an essential live album for early Police fans!
