Rick Wakeman is known as the former keyboardist of the progressive rock band "Yes" and is also active as a solo artist. His latest solo piano album is now available! All tracks were composed and performed by Rick Wakeman. With his new album, Melancholia, Rick Wakeman completes his astounding trilogy of solo piano works, which began with 2017's Piano Portraits and continued with 2018's Piano Odyssey! Whereas the first two works looked to the outside world to explore grand themes, "Melancholia" heads inward, inviting us into the most personal, introspective, and perhaps profound music of Wakeman's illustrious career. Like many of Wakeman's masterpieces, the album began with a quiet moment at the piano. One afternoon, his wife Rachel happened to overhear him playing a meditative piece. That would later become "Gallo.She encouraged him to share his feelings, knowing full well that he often turned to the piano in times of grief or emotional conflict and used music as an emotional compass.
