Aztec Camera

Aztec Camera, a band at the center of the neo-acoustic movement that began in Scotland in the 1980s, debuted in 1981 with the single "Just Like Gold / We Could Send Letters" on Postcard Records, the label to which Orange Juice, another leading neo-acoustic/post-punk band, belonged. In 1981, the band debuted with the single "Just Like Gold / We Could Send Letters" on Postcard Records, which also belonged to the neo-acoustic/post-punk band Orange Juice. The band moved to the prestigious indie label Rough Trade and released the masterpiece album "High Land, Hard Rain" in 1983. He continued to release albums for Warner Records, and his fifth album, "Dreamland," produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto, was released in 1983. The guitar work of Roddy Flame, a gifted songwriter, and a sound style that incorporated the essence of bossa nova and film music greatly influenced Japanese "Shibuya-kei" artists such as Flipper's Guitar. Finally, a rare live archive of such Aztec Camera is now available! As part of the promotion for "Knife," produced by Mark Knopfler and released on WEA in 1984, the band toured Europe, starting with a concert in Glasgow in August of the same year. The performance in Madrid on September 18 was recorded and broadcast for Spanish TV and radio programs. This album is a live album using the sound recordings used for the broadcast, and includes the encore and the complete recording. Before the production of "Knife," lead guitarist Craig Gannon left the band to join Terry Hall's band Colorfield. He was replaced by Malcolm Ross from Postcard-era compatriot Joseph K. Their guitars and vocals are on full display in Spain for the first time, and their unique interpretation of the Van Halen cover "Jump," the last song in the album, is especially shocking to the audience. A bonus track from a 1983 BBC radio session is included. Since no live album has ever been officially released, this is a must-have for fans. Imported domestic version with Japanese obi and bilingual liner notes in English. Roddy Flame (vo, g, hmc) Malcolm Ross (g, vo) Campbell Owens (b) Dave Laffey (ds, perc) Eddie Clark (kbds)
