The second single by [Marcus I Meets Dubsta], who presented a 2020's type roots reggae sound where authenticity and modernity intertwine in the first single "Heavy Manners," is a beautiful melody and chorus work dedicated to his son that will move your heart. A family song. Following the success of his first single "Heavy Manners" on F-Spot Records, Marcus I meetsaDUBta starts the new year with his second single "Listen Up My Son. Recorded and produced by aDUBta at his Attic Roots Studio in Bavaria, Germany, "Listen Up My Son" was created with singer Marcus I and further continues the authentic early roots reggae sound that the collaboration has burst onto the scene. Polished and mixed by aDUBta at Tascam 388, this new 7" with rich analog sounds and the soulful vocals of Marcus Eye slows down the groove and takes us straight back to Jamaica in the 1960s and 70s. Listen Up My Son, with lyrics written by Marcus I for his son, is a very personal song that touches the heart. The B-side features a dub version of the song, with Marcus Eye's unique harmonies and the Black Oaks Roots All-Stars' riddim section consisting of Andy 'aDUBta' Bauer (drums), Yannis Krenke (bass), and Mauricio-Joran Seseña (guitar).
