Blind Faith

Description:

Cream was a great super band that influenced various bands/musicians in the British rock scene in the 1960s despite their short period of activity. After its breakup, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker formed a new supergroup, Blind Faith, in 1969 with Steve Winwood of Traffic and Rick Gretsch of the Family. Here comes the archive of this super band! Eric Clapton had noticed the talent of Steve Winwood, Traffic's vocalist and keyboardist, since his days with Cream, and suggested that he form a band upon Cream's dissolution. Ginger Baker and Rick Gretsch joined the band, and the band was off and running." Blind Faith released their debut album, entitled "Blind Faith," in July 1969, and it got off to a good start, reaching No. 1 on the album charts in the U.K. and the U.S. and earning a gold disc. The band played an unveiling concert in London's Hyde Park on June 7 before the album's release, followed by a 29-show tour of Northern Europe and North America, beginning with a concert in Helsinki, Finland on June 12 and ending in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 24. With only one album, the concerts, which included numbers from Cream and Traffic, were enthusiastically received by audiences everywhere. However, at the end of the tour, the band ceased operations and effectively disbanded... The June 18 concert in Gothenburg, Sweden's second largest city, was recorded and broadcast as a special program on a local radio station. This live album is based on the recordings from the broadcast, and allows the audience to experience the entire concert, including the encores. In addition to the six songs from the debut album, two songs, "Under My Thumb" by The Rolling Stones and "Means to an End" by Traffic, and "Sleeping in the Ground" by black blues singer Sam Mays, which was recorded but not included on the album, are performed. Sleeping in the Ground" by black blues singer Sam Mays, which was recorded but not included on the album. The band broke up after the tour, so this is a rare live archive!
