Description:
Cyndi Lauper is a singer and songwriter from Brooklyn who has had a profound influence on female artists with her charisma, unique fashion, and energetic artist activities that have remained unchanged from her debut to the present. She was immersed in art-making and music from her childhood, and in 1978 formed her own band, Blue Angel, which made its debut in 1980 with the album "Blue Angel" on Polydor Records. After the breakup of the band, she continued to produce music energetically and made her solo debut with "She's So Unusual" in 1983. The album was a huge hit, selling over 5 million copies, and the single 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' was cut from the album and became a worldwide hit, reaching #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.The song "Time After Time," which later became a standard number covered by many artists including Miles Davis, reached No. 1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard's Adult Contemporary charts in 1984. It was followed by a string of hit singles. She also won numerous awards, including Best Female Singer at the first annual MTV Music Video Awards and Rolling Stone magazine's 1984 Best New Artist Award. Now, at long last, a rare live archive of Cyndi Lauper in the early days of her debut is available! In 1983, with the release of her hit album "She's So Unusual," Cyndi Lauper embarked on the "Fun Tour," a year-long promotional tour of over 100 shows from New York in November of the same year to Minnesota in December 1984. Their performance in Boston on May 2, 1984 was recorded and broadcast on radio station WXKS-FM.This is a live album based on the sound recordings from the broadcast, and in addition to her signature hit numbers such as 'Girls Just Want To Have Fun' and 'Time After Time,' it also includes Prince's 'When You Were Mine,' a cover of Helen Kane's 'When You Were Mine,' and other songs that showcased her wide range of expression. This is a must-hear for fans who can enjoy her performance at the peak of her career at the time of her solo debut, and can glimpse her wide range of expression.
