Gentle Giant had established a unique position in the British progressive rock scene with their outstanding originality and technique, but in their home country of the UK, they were treated as a critics' favorite band and did not sell well at all... However, the band's U.S. release of "The Power And The Glory" on Capitol led to their breakthrough in the U.S., and "Free Hand" was their first U.S. album to be released on a U.S. label. In 1980, Gentle Giant released their last album, "Civilian", on the newly merged Columbia label. In 1980, the band released their last album, "Civilian," on the newly merged Columbia label, and toured North America on the "Civilian Tour," a 39-show tour that included a performance in Connecticut on May 18, 1980. The concert in New Haven, Connecticut on May 18 of the same year was recorded and broadcast as a PBS radio program. This album is a live album recorded during the broadcast, and includes the complete concert including medleys and encores.The live performance here covers the band's best-known songs from their hit albums, and showcases all of the band's charms.
