Fourplay was formed in 1990 by Bob James on piano and keyboards, Lee Ritner on guitar, Nathan East on bass, and Harvey Mason on drums, and quickly became a popular jazz fusion band. In 1997, Larry Carlton, who is one of the two most popular guitarists in the fusion guitar world along with Ritner, became the second guitarist of Fourplay. In 2006, the group released its 10th album, "X" (with guest Michael McDonald), and this rare archive from the same year is now available! This album was recorded on July 6, 2006, when the band performed at the San Javier International Jazz Festival in Murcia, Spain. The band did not play any numbers from their new album, but performed songs from their early albums such as their debut album "Fourplay" released in 1991 and "Between The Sheets" released in 1993 when Littner was with the band, as well as songs from the members' solo albums, making for a truly "best of~" set list.
