Brian Eno joined Roxy Music as a synthesizer player when the band was formed, and left after playing on two albums. After making an experimental instrumental album with Robert Fripp of King Crimson, Eno produced a rock album with a unique pop sensibility. After forming 801 with Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music and performing live only, he pursued ambient music and became a pioneer in the field.
