Boston is one of the biggest selling American rock bands. The band has released more than 70 million albums worldwide, making them a monster band. After the band moved their record company to MCA Records and released their first album in eight years, "Third Stage," in 1986, Boston began a North American-only tour, which culminated in a live show in Worcester, MA on August 16, 1987. After the release of "Don't Look Back" in 1978 and their first world tour, Boston began work on a new album, but the work did not progress, and they were involved in a legal battle with their record company, CBS. However, in 1986, the lawsuit was settled and "Third Stage" was released, with the single "Amanda" reaching No. 1 on the U.S. Hot 100 and the album also reaching No. 1. A limited North American tour followed in 1987-88.The August 16, 1987 concert in Massachusetts was recorded and broadcast for radio promotion, and this album is based on that broadcast and includes guitar solos, medleys, and three encores. Led by the perfectionist leader Tom Scholz, the band's live performance is a true testament to their No. 1 status as a No. 1 band, and this album shows just how great Boston is as a live band!
