Since the birth of modern jazz in the 1950s, the music has continued to develop through the creative efforts of various jazz musicians who have taken on what could be called challenges. Pat Metheny is undoubtedly one of the most significant contributors to this music, taking it in a variety of directions. In particular, the many masterpieces released by the Pat Metheny Group, which played a central role in his creative activities, and the concert activities that accompanied those releases, expanded the possibilities of jazz music and created a large number of fans. The archive of the Pat Metheny Group's live studio performances in 1991 is now available! This is a recording of a live performance in Boston in the summer of 1991, two years after the release of "Letter From Home" in 1989, the year the group reached its zenith.As in "Letter From Home," the lineup includes Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays, bassist Steve Rodby, drummer Paul Wertico, percussionist Armando Marshall, and multi-instrumentalist Pedro Aznar on guitar, percussion, steel drums, and marimba. The lineup is led by multi-instrumentalist Pedro Aznar, who also plays guitar, percussion, steel drums, and marimba. The set list is truly a "best of" selection of songs from the group's classic albums of the past, and is a rare archive of the group's peak performance.
