Lyle Mays was the keyboard player and musical director of the Pat Metheny Group from its formation in 1978 until its cessation in 2006. However, he passed away in February 2020 after a long battle with illness... Here is a rare live archive of his solo activities that he had been doing in parallel with his time in the Pat Metheny Group! After recording a special program for a German TV station, Lyle Mays performed at a jazz festival in Poland with a different lineup. Mark Johnson, who played on Lyle Mays' second solo album and is the bassist of the Bill Evans Trio. Bill Sheppard, a young saxophone player who was gaining attention at the time, and Mark Walker, who was gaining a reputation as a session musician.
