Lyle Mays was the keyboard player and musical director of the Pat Metheny Group from its formation in 1978 until its cessation in 2006. However, he passed away in February 2020 after a long battle with illness... Rare live archives of his solo activities that he had been doing in parallel with his time in the Pat Metheny Group are now available! In 1992, Pat Metheny's musical director, Lyle Mays, recorded an album with German jazz guitarist Michael Sagmeister, with whom he had a close friendship, which led to a tour with him and a special live performance for a German TV program. The band released two solo albums at this time. The live performance, which revolved around songs from his two solo albums released at that time, was different from that of Lyle Mays in the Pat Metheny Group, and featured jazz music with an acoustic and lyrical resonance.
