Description:
Formed in 1974 by David Sylvian, his brother Steve Jansen, the late Mick Kern, Richard Barbieri of Porcupine Tree, and Rob Dean, JAPAN made its debut in 1976 under the (German) Ariola Hansa Records. Although their unique look and glamorous sound, which could be described as the original Visual-kei, were much talked about, they failed to gain recognition outside of Japan. However, in 1980, the band moved to Virgin Records, where they changed their sound to one that made the most of each member's individuality, and gained high acclaim in their home country of the United Kingdom as well. In 1982, just as the band's popularity was gaining momentum, David Sylvian and Mick Kern broke up due to differences in musical direction. JAPAN's valuable live archives from their Virgin Records days are finally released on CD! The album "Tin Platinum Drum" released in 1981 was the first big hit for JAPAN.The band's musical style also incorporated Eastern music and African beats, perfectly establishing the band's originality, and the band gained a strong following. However, the band decided to break up due to differences in musical direction, and chose Japan, a country that had supported them since their debut, as the site for their final concert. The concert was recorded and broadcast as a special FM radio program. This release includes the soundtrack used for the broadcast, as well as soundtracks that were not used for the broadcast and were not in the archives, and includes the complete concert. Special guests Ryuichi Sakamoto, Yukihiro Takahashi, and Akiko Yano will join the concert for an encore. The concert can be called the culmination of JAPAN's activities, and fans will be moved to tears as this is a work that has long been desired for release as a live album.Includes 4 additional bonus tracks from the Holland tour prior to the Japan tour.
