Canterbury music is unique in the progressive rock scene. Hatfield and the North, formed by members of four of the leading bands of that sound (Caravan, Gong, Matching Mowl, and Egg), is truly a super band of Canterbury music. The band signed with the upstart Virgin Records label and released their debut album "Hatfield and the North" in 1974. The live archive released this time is the audio master of the studio live performance for TV broadcast in Paris for promotion just before the release of their debut album, and Robert Wyatt, who was also their label mate, guested on three songs.
