Mountain was one of the leading bands of the American hard rock scene in the 1970s. The band was formed in 1969 by bassist Felix Papalardi and guitarist Leslie West, who had gained fame as a producer for Cream, and released their debut album, "Climbing to Victory," in 1970. The following year, the band's debut album, "Climbing to Victory," charted at No. 17 on the U.S. Album Chart and received a gold disc, making them a promising new star. Their third album, "Nantucket Sleighride," was released in 1971 and sold even better than the previous album in Japan and the UK. Mountain toured North America to promote the release of their first best-of album in 1973, and their December 30, 1973 concert in Passaic, New Jersey was recorded for the popular American radio program "King Biscuit Flower Hour.
