Description:

Drummer Roy Brooks, who has had a profound influence on the Detroit jazz scene through his participation in TRIBE and other works, has left behind with "ETHNIC EXPRESSIONS" a spectacular live document that is the pinnacle of rarity, spirituality, and groove. Starting with the Horace Silver combo in the early 60's, he went on to play in the bands of such greats as Stanley Turrentine, Yusef Lateef, and Charles Mingus. Roy Brooks was always at the forefront of the US jazz scene until his death in 2005.He has had a great influence on the US jazz scene with his works on Detroit's legendary spiritual jazz label TRIBE and his participation in M'Boom (a cutting-edge project led by legendary drummer Max Roach, in which all members are percussionists), and he has also led his own band, Roy Brooks And The Artistic Truth, which produces spiritual jazz with high purity and sharpness. Roy Brooks And The Artistic Truth is a spiritual jazz group led by Roy Brooks that is guided by the purity of blackness and a well-honed spirituality. As on "ETHNIC EXPRESSIONS," the ultimate spiritual jazz album that is praised as the pinnacle of rarity, spirituality, and groove, Joe Bonner (Piano), Reggie Workman (Bass), Sonny Fortune (Alto Sax), Cecil Bridgewater (Alto Sax), and Cecil Bridgewater (Alto Sax) are all featured on the album, The tension-filled sound of this album with strong black musicians such as Joe Bonner (Piano), Reggie Workman (Bass), Sonny Fortune (Alto Sax), Cecil Bridgewater (Trumpet), etc., is as "ultimate" as "ETHNIC EXPRESSIONS", and is a definitive spiritual jazz album.
