Southside Movement and Jackie Ross - two groups associated with Chicago, probably produced in the early 1980's, and issued on extremely rare jacketless promo(?) vinyl. World's first reissue of this extremely rare jacketless promo(?) LP from the early 1980s, probably by Southside Movement and Jackie Ross. The unknown gem of groovy soul "You Are The One That I Need" is simply the best! This is the first world reissue of the previously unreleased Southside Movement album, which was released on CD by P Vine in 1991, South Side Movement, a Chicago funk band that released three albums between 1973 and 1975 on Wand and Twentieth Century. Jackie Ross (born in St. Louis), another Chicago female singer who has done quite a bit of work for Chess and Brunswick. This reissue of the pair's collaboration (a six-song mini-album), produced by Chicago producer James Van Lear, adds previously unreleased songs from Southside Movement and features new artwork.You Are The One That I Need," a groovy soul tune with a tropical/Brazilian flavor, is simply killer! The catchy horn riff is a great addition to the lighthearted sound, and Jackie Ross's extended voice brings a wonderful uplifting feeling to this impeccable hidden gem! Other tracks include the sticky slow funk "Cold Hearted Woman," the horn-driven funk instrumental "Open Air," and a previously unreleased track from the Southside Movement. A must-listen for soul and funk fans.
