Description:
The first version of "Message From The Tribe" was recorded and recorded differently than the others, a fact known only to those in the know due to the rarity of the original. The Tribe community was initially primarily active in live performances, but as an extension of that, it also put on a musical at the Detroit Institute of Arts that consisted of music, skits, and poetry. The recordings were collected on a single LP, the "Cliff Jacket. Included is the first performance of Wendell Harrison's signature song, "Where Am I," which gradually builds from a free session into a spiritual and pleasant song. This album is the first embarkation of the best musicians in Detroit at that time, who performed freely and innovatively, with a strong social message, and with the attitude and passion to change the times. It is definitely an important work of music history in the Black Americans. (C)RS
