Cecil Ride, a Chicago soul singer with a huge following among soul fanatics around the world, has finally reissued two extremely rare albums he left under the name Homeboy and the C.O.L. after the release of the 80s modern soul/boogie masterpiece "Stone Free". This second album, released in 1984, continues the 80s style sound that featured synths in a big way! Starting with the light funk "You Turn Me Out" (M1) with its sparkling synth ensemble and electro beat, there are also dance numbers like "When Will You Be Mine" (M2) and "I Saw You Dancing" (M5) that were sure to get the floor going in the 80s. The album also features the ballad "I Don't Want To Be A Movie Star" (M6) with its weeping lead guitar and soulful vocals and chorus, and a cover of the Lovers' classic "La La La (Means I Love You)" (M3),The final track, "Money's Funny Change Is Strange (Rap)" (M8), is a rap song that seems to be ahead of its time.
